Prior to last Saturday’s home match v. Bath City, Havant & Waterlooville FC paid tribute to Rich Bonsey.
Club Secretary, Trevor Brock led the tributes and prior to the kick off made the following announcement to the crowd.
“Today, we celebrate the life of Richard Bonsey. Many of you will have known Richie who was a regular at Hawks’ matches, both home and away, and was also an enthusiastic member of the Many Shades walking football team.
All in the Hawks’ community offer our condolences and best wishes to Rich’s family and we are pleased to welcome them to Westleigh Park today”.
Trevor then asked that everyone join together in a minute of applause for Richie.
On behalf of us all, Trevor then signed off with “Goodbye Richie from all your friends at Havant & Waterlooville. You will not be forgotten”.
Hawks’ Assistant Manager, Shaun Gale, unveiled a commemorative plaque by the home dugout where Rich would always take his place at home games to offer his sage advice to both the Hawks’ management team and the referee’s assistant.
